SC, ST families to get ownership rights: CM
Will apply to those residing at same location for 20 years
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today announced that the government would formulate a policy to grant ownership rights to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families residing at a single location for over 20 years.
Addressing a state-level function marking the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas, he said statutory provisions would be introduced to ensure that funds allocated under the Scheduled Caste Component Plan were used for the welfare of the SC community.
Responding to demands by minister Krishan Lal Panwar, the CM said concessions would also be provided through a policy framework for industrial and commercial use under HSIIDC. He said suggestions should be submitted regarding promotions in Group A and B posts for SC employees and the determination of creamy layer criteria, which was to be finalised by March 31.
The CM said a Guru Ravidas Dham would be constructed on 5 acres in Kurukshetra at a total cost of Rs 124 crore.
Addressing the programme virtually, Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar said the state had implemented a transparent system of providing jobs. The government had also designed welfare schemes for every section of society.
In the evening, the CM addressed a gathering at the inauguration of the 35th Sub-Junior National Kho-Kho Championship (Boys and Girls), and formally declared the championship open. He also announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh for the Kho-Kho Association.
