SC youth thrashed with sticks in Sonepat, video goes viral

SONEPAT: Ankit, a youth belonging to the Scheduled Caste community was beaten mercilessly with sticks in a room at Bajana Kalan village in the district allegedly by two youths belonging to an upper caste from the same village for refusing to clean buffaloes and not attending to their phone calls.

Ankit, a youth belonging to the Scheduled Caste community was beaten mercilessly with sticks in a room at Bajana Kalan village in the district allegedly by two youths belonging to an upper caste from the same village for refusing to clean buffaloes and not attending to their phone calls.

The video of the incident, which reportedly had taken place about a month ago, went viral on social media today, forcing the police to act swiftly. On the basis of the video and the statement of Ankit’s father Rishi Pal, a case was registered under the SC/ST Act and various sections of the IPC at Gannaur police station against the accused identified as Mohit and Jitender.

Additional SP Arpit Jain said that three teams had been formed to arrest the absconding accused.
