School celebrates ‘van mahotsav’

Karnal: Pratap Public School, Jarnailly Colony, celebrated ‘van mahotsav’.



Karnal:  Pratap Public School, Jarnailly Colony, celebrated ‘van mahotsav’. Vijender Singh, District Forest Officer; Poonam Bhatia, joint secretary of the school association; Poonam Navet, Director-cum-Principal; and students planted saplings. A cultural programme to motivate the gathering to save the environment was also organised by the students. Vijender Singh encouraged the students and teachers to plant more trees and take good care of them. An oath to conserve the environment was also administered.

School goes the eco-friendly way

Karnal: Saint Kabir Public School here has initiated “Operation Parivartan” with an idea to save the environment by adopting eco-friendly measures like drip irrigation for plants and ground, solar energy plant, rain-water harvesting system and others. The school also adopted segregation of waste by placing multi-coloured dustbins. Col PS Bindra (retd), Chairman, said that they had installed a 10 KW solar power project in 2018. The production of electricity is being monitored through a mobile app. Not only does it reduce the emission of carbon dioxide, but also reduces the electricity bill of the school, he added. Besides, the school has also replaced conventional lights with LEDs.

Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated

Karnal: Kargil Vijay Diwas was celebrated at Dayal Singh Public School, Dayal Singh Colony. Addressing the cadets of 7 Haryana Battalion, Associate NCC Officer Dr Kewal Krishna said that on July 26, 1999, the Indian Army conducted ‘Operation Vijay’ during the Kargil war. “Indian soldiers expelled the Pakistani army and captured the second peak of Kargil and its adjoining areas with their indomitable courage,” he said. NCC Havildar Ravinder also highlighted the achievements of the Indian soldiers.

IGU inks MoU for Vedic math

Rewari: The Indira Gandhi University (IGU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas (SSUN), Delhi, to train students in Vedic mathematics, a technique to do calculations in an easy and faster way. “It will be useful not only for students of mathematics but also for the ones preparing for competitive examinations,” said Prof SK Gakhar, Vice-Chancellor. Gakhar said another MoU had been signed with the SSUN for character-building and personality development of the students.
