On the 23rd death anniversary of astronaut Kalpana Chawla, 10 meritorious girl students of Tagore Baal Niketan Senior Secondary School, an alma mater of Chawla, were honoured with the prestigious Kalpana Chawla Award for their outstanding achievements in academics.
Each student was awarded a cheque of Rs 25,000, with the total award amounting to Rs 2.50 lakh. The award fund was sponsored by Rupa & Company, Delhi. Parents of the awardees were also invited to the programme which was organised to pay tributes to Kalpana Chawla and honour her remarkable legacy on the school campus.
MD Sugar Mill and Estate officer HSVP, Aditi, serves as the chief guest on the occasion. She paid floral tributes to Kalpana Chawla and addressed the gathering, inspiring girl students to pursue excellence and aim high in life.
School Principal Dr Rajan Lamba and Director RM Raheja expressed gratitude to Rupa & Company for their generous support and said that the Kalpana Chawla Award is presented every year on Chawla’s death anniversary to encourage girl students and to keep her inspirational legacy alive among young learners.
