Scorpio-borne assailants shoot financer dead in Haryana's village

Over 15 rounds fired in a minute at victim’s office in Dighal village

A 26-year-old financer, identified as Sahil alias Sonu, was shot dead by unidentified assailants who arrived in a black Scorpio at his office in Dighal village of the district on Wednesday. The attackers fled after perpetrating the crime, which was captured on a CCTV camera installed at a nearby house.

The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained. Police have launched an investigation and are working to identify the assailants using CCTV footage. Cameras installed in the surrounding area are also being examined for further leads.

According to preliminary information, the incident took place when Sahil was playing cards with his friends at his office. A Scorpio, without a registration number plate, stopped outside the premises, and three youths stepped out, brandishing pistols. They entered the office and opened indiscriminate fire.

In the CCTV footage, two of the assailants were seen firing from the main gate, while the third entered the office and targeted Sahil. Sources said that more than 15 rounds were fired within a minute, creating panic in the area.

After the attackers fled in the same vehicle, residents rushed injured Sahil to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

ACP Anil Kumar, along with other police officials, reached the spot and assessed the situation. A forensic team was also called to collect evidence from the scene.

“Investigation is under way to find out the reason behind the murder. Efforts are also on to identify the suspects,” said the police.
