Seasoned politicians take centre stage in Faridabad and Palwal assembly elections
In the upcoming assembly polls, 13 former MLAs or ministers are vying for re-election in Faridabad and Palwal districts. Despite new faces being fielded by various political parties, including BJP, Congress and AAP, experienced candidates dominate the scene. The most senior candidate is 67 years old, while the youngest is around 30. Notable experienced candidates include Mool Chand Sharma, a former minister, and Sharda Rathore from Ballabhgarh.
In the Badkhal segment, a direct contest is expected between Vijay Pratap (Congress) and Dhanesh Adlakha (BJP), a first-timer. In the NIT assembly segment, outgoing MLA Neeraj Sharma faces opposition from Satish Fagna (BJP) and Nagender Bhadana, a former MLA who was denied a ticket by BJP. Vipul Goel, a former MLA, has been fielded by BJP from Faridabad and faces Lakhan Singla, a veteran Congress leader.
Ballabhgarh sees a three-way battle between outgoing Cabinet Minister Mool Chand Sharma, Parag Sharma (Congress), and Sharda Rathore, a Congress rebel contesting as an Independent. Tigaon has two old rivals, Rajesh Nagar (BJP) and Lalit Nagar, a former MLA, along with Rohit Nagar (Congress), the youngest candidate at 30.
Karan Singh Dalal, Raghubir Singh Tewatia, and Udai Bhan, Congress candidates from the Palwal, Prithla and Hodal segments, respectively, are experienced politicians. BJP has fielded fresh faces, including Gaurav Gautam, Harinder Ram Rattan, and Manoj Rawat, in the Palwal, Hodal and Hathin segments. Parag Sharma, Vijay Pratap, and Harinder Ram Rattan are children of former MLAs or ministers.
