The Gurugram police are beefing up security here ahead of Republic Day celebrations, using drones to monitor venues in order to avoid any untoward incident.
This time, the state-level event will be held in Gurugram, and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini will be the chief guest.
A senior police officer said tight security arrangements had been made to ensure law and order, along with smooth vehicular movement.
More than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed for security. The events will be organised at 5 places — Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector-38; Martyr and Freedom Fighter Smriti Stadium, Nakhadola; New Grain Market, Haily Mandi, Pataudi; Government Model Sanskriti Senior Secondary School, Sushant Lok, Sector-43; and Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sohna.
“Keeping law and order and security in mind, 11 permanent checkpoints, and 41 additional special checkpoints have been set up. A total of 55 police personnel have been deployed at the permanent checkpoints, and 277 police personnel at the additional special checkpoints. Three Gurgaon police contingents will participate in the Republic Day parade at various locations in the district,” said a spokesperson of Gurugram police.
He added that the use of drones, aircraft, gliders, air balloons, kites and micro-lights had been banned here till January 26.
Riders of the Gurugram police, PCR and intelligence teams will be deployed, and three-layer security checking of the visitors will be carried out.
Besides, traffic police officials will be deployed to regulate vehicular movement here.
