Security tightened at Sirsa dera

SIRSA: Tight security is in place in Sirsa in view of the Special CBI Court’s verdict on Thursday on the quantum of punishment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and three others in journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case.

Tight security is in place in Sirsa in view of the Special CBI Court’s verdict on Thursday on the quantum of punishment to Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and three others in journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case.

A police spokesperson said 12 companies of the Haryana Police were already stationed in Sirsa and two more companies of the CRPF arrived on Wednesday.

With Sirsa being the headquarters of the dera, the police were not taking any chances. A spokesperson said 16 barricades had been set up in the district to check the movement of people.

The Special CBI Court convicted Ram Rahim and three others on January 11 and the quantum of punishment would be pronounced on Thursday. The dera chief wuld appear in court through video-conferencing.
