Nearly four and a half months after a minor girl went missing under mysterious circumstances, the family, which has been staging dharna at the Mini-Secretariat has started a foot-march to Ambala to meet  Transport Minister Anil Vij to make an appeal for locating their daughter.

The Human Trafficking Cell of the police has started investigation in the case after the family alleged negligence by the local police. The parents of the girl had even tried to immolate themselves outside the gate number four of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU) during Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's programme on January 9.

Sunil Soni, father of the missing girl, said they would go to Ambala on foot and start a dharna outside the residence of Anil Vij. Soni, accompanied by his wife and two minor sons, said they were getting no response from the police so far. “We want the police to trace the girl and inform us about her well-being. Despite running from pillar to post for the last four and a half months, the police have failed to get any clue of the girl,” he said.

He said they would go to Chandigarh at the CM’s residence if they failed to get any response from Anil Vij and would later go to Delhi to make an appeal to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He filed a complaint on September 29, 2024, about their missing 16 years old daughter Harshita.

However, on January 9, CM Saini met them briefly at the HAU and assured action and directed officials to find the girl. The Hisar police spokesperson said the matter was handed over to the Human Trafficking Cell, which was probing the case.
