Shahabad gets new Air Force Chowk

Haryana’s Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Krishan Kumar Bedi inaugurated the Air Force Chowk on Barara Road, near the main gate of the New Grain Market, at Shahabad Markanda on Monday.

The chowk has been established in honour and recognition of Vir Chakra awardees, Fighter Pilot Wg Cdr (late) TPS Gill and Air Commodore V Prakash (Retd), both residents of Shahabad in Kurukshetra district.

Air Force veteran Ravi Bhushan said Wg Cdr TPS Gill was awarded the Vir Chakra for his outstanding courage and valour during the 1965 Indo-Pak War, while Air Commodore V Prakash received the gallantry award for his display of courage during Operation Pawan-IPKF in 1987.

A large number of citizens, veterans from the Army, Navy and Air Force, and NCC cadets of MN College, Shahabad Markanda, were present on the occasion.

Minister Krishan Bedi said, “On the occasion of Republic Day, the Air Force Chowk has been inaugurated and it will motivate the younger generation to join the Indian armed forces. Air Force veterans have played a crucial role in getting the chowk constructed.”
