Shaili Chaudhary, Mohammad Ilyas, Renubala and Mohammad Israil voted in favour of BJP, Congress names 4 Haryana MLAs
Haryana Congress cracks down on cross-voting MLAs during Rajya Sabha polling amid political storm
The political battle over the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana has escalated, with the Congress party publicly naming four of its MLAs accused of cross-voting, exposing internal rifts within the party.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday in New Delhi, Haryana Congress in-charge BK Hariprasad said that Shaili Chaudhary (Naraingarh), Mohammad Ilyas (Punahana), Mohammad Israil (Hathin), and Renubala (Sadhaura) voted in favour of the BJP.
He added that disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against them and show-cause notices will be issued.
Prasad alleged that the election process was influenced by “money, muscle power, and institutional pressure,” claiming that several votes were deliberately invalidated to alter the outcome.

Drawing parallels with the 2016 Rajya Sabha election controversy, he said a similar pattern had emerged this time.
According to him, despite lacking adequate numbers, the BJP supported a second candidate running as an independent to undermine the Congress nominee, who is a Dalit.
He added that, along with senior leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda, he personally reviewed the ballot papers as an authorised agent.
“We had 37 votes, but 5 or 6 were declared invalid. After examining the ballots, we confirmed that four MLAs had cross-voted,” he said.
Voting for the two Rajya Sabha seats was held on Monday. While Sanjay Bhatia of the BJP comfortably won his seat, Congress candidate Karamvir Singh Boudh narrowly secured the other seat in a close contest against independent candidate Satish Nandal.
The development comes after Congress MLA Gokul Setia staged a protest outside the party office, demanding that the names of the cross-voting legislators be made public. The protest was later called off after senior leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda intervened and persuaded him to withdraw.
The Congress leadership has asserted that there would be no compromise on party discipline and that strict action would be taken against those involved in cross-voting.
