Shruti Choudhry, Congress candidate from the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh constituency, filed her nomination papers in Bhiwani on Tuesday. She was accompanied by her mother Kiran Choudhry and six former MLAs.

Tosham MLA Kiran, while addressing a gathering, lashed out at the BJP for trying to exploit the emotive issue of nationalism for electoral gains. “The Centre looted people for five years. Now, they are trying to befool people on the issue of nationalism. But the people have seen through their motives and are geared up to vote them out of power,” she said, adding that the Congress would win all 10 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Shruti accused the BJP government of ignoring the Bhiwani-Mahendragarh segment. “Not a single project was launched, while the proposed ones conceptualised during my tenure as an MP were shelved.”

The Congress put up a united face in a public meeting organised before Shruti filed her nomination. Former MLAs considered close to former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda attended the meeting. Those present included former Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, and former MLAs Ram Kishan Fauji, and Rao Bahadur Singh.
