According to the researchers, using cold, heat and electric pulp tests together before starting a root canal treatment can help doctors confirm whether the tooth has been completely numbed.

Prof Dr Rakesh Singla said patients often feared pain during root canal procedures. He said that in some cases the surrounding area might feel numb, but nerves inside the tooth can remain active, causing sudden pain during treatment. “Our objective was to reduce the gap between patients’ experiences and dentists’ perceptions. These tests can help prevent discomfort during treatment,” he said.

JCD Vidyapeeth director-general Dr Jai Prakash congratulated the research team and said the study would help make root canal treatment safer and more comfortable for patients.

Chairman Arjun Singh Chautala said the institution would continue promoting scientific research and quality education. The researchers also thanked Principal Dr Arindam Sarkar for his guidance and support during the study.
