Two young girls from a humble background in Sirsa have made the district and the state proud by winning the national ‘Codeavour 7.0’ competition and earning the opportunity to represent India on the international stage.
Prachi (15) and Harshita (16), Class XI students of Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Mela Ground, Sirsa, showcased exceptional skills in AI, coding and robotics at the ‘Codeavour 7.0’, held on April 11-12 at Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management, Bengaluru. Their innovative projects and outstanding performance helped them clinch the national title.
‘Codeavour’, an international competition in AI, robotics and coding, challenges students to create impactful solutions. Participants gain hands-on experience in AI, AR/VR, machine learning and robotics, while developing essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication.
According to the school management, only three teams from Haryana were selected for the event, and Prachi and Harshita’s team emerged as national champions, securing a spot to represent India in Jakarta on May 16.
Following their achievement, Deputy Commissioner Shantanu Sharma and District Education Officer Sunita Sai honoured the students on Thursday, recognising their talent and determination. The girls trained under the guidance of STEM instructor Pawan Kumar, whose mentorship helped them navigate complex challenges during the competition.
Principal Paramjit Kaur credited this success to the school’s supportive and motivating environment. She said that the achievement proves that with proper guidance and opportunities, students from rural areas can excel at both national and international levels.
Coming from modest family backgrounds, Prachi and Harshita’s success is a shining example of what talent, hard work and the right opportunities can achieve. Their families expressed immense pride, emphasising that government schools can nurture students to reach the highest levels of success, regardless of their socio-economic background.
