A special team formed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan arrested Harjinder Singh from the Ashok Niketan area of Anand Vihar in Delhi
The Sirsa police have arrested a Delhi resident in connection with an alleged Rs 33-crore fraud and embezzlement case involving a rice mill machinery manufacturing company.
A special team formed under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Deepak Saharan arrested Harjinder Singh from the Ashok Niketan area of Anand Vihar in Delhi. He was produced before a court on Friday and remanded to five days of police custody for questioning. On the complaint of Sanjeev Gupta, director of SF Food Pro Tech, located on Dabwali Road in Sirsa, a case was registered on June 1, 2024, at Civil Lines Police Station under various criminal charges.
During the investigation, the police found that company’s accountant Saket Kumar, who had worked with the firm for nearly 15 years, allegedly misused his position and transferred crores of rupees from the company accounts to accounts linked to other accused. The funds were allegedly invested in illegal cricket betting.
The police have already arrested Saket and nine other accused, who have been sent to judicial custody. Investigators said Harjinder Singh was linked to a cricket betting network and played an active role in the alleged conspiracy.
The SP said the arrest was made based on technical evidence and specific leads. Efforts are on to recover the embezzled amount.
