Scouts and Guides from a government senior secondary school in Sirsa district secured second place at the Bharat Scouts and Guides National Integration Camp held in Karnataka, showcasing Haryana’s traditional culture and heritage.
The camp was held from January 22 to 26 in Karnataka. A 21-member student team from Government Senior Secondary School, Gudiakhera, represented Sirsa district at the national-level event.
The district contingent was led by Anand Prakash Kargwal, Scout Master Mukesh Sharma, Dulichand, Guide Captain Vimal Devi and Kumari Dimple. The team comprised seven scouts — Prince, Puneet, Kusum, Ankush, Akshay, Rohit and Amandeep — and nine guides — Chetna, Sarita, Anu, Savita, Khushbu, Parul, Lalita, Priyanka and Priyanka Rani.
The students impressed the judges with their presentation of Haryanvi culture, especially traditional wedding rituals, a food plaza featuring milk and curd-based dishes, folk dances, and celebrations of festivals such as Teej. Based on this performance, the Haryana team secured second position in the competition.
Ajay Singh Bhati received the runner-up trophy on behalf of the Haryana team. On the final night, during the campfire programme, the students also performed Haryanvi folk music and dance, earning wide appreciation.
District Education Officer Sunita Sai, Block Education Officer Satbir Singh, school principal Umed Singh Dhaka, DPE Sudhir Kaushik and several Scouts and Guides officials congratulated the students and accompanying teachers on their achievement.
