Sohna MLA gets Rs 5L extortion message

Sohna MLA Sanjay Singh has received an extortion message on his WhatsApp number. The sender identified himself as a member of the Neeraj Bawana gang.He sought Rs 5 lakh from him and also shared the account number to which the amount was to be transferred.

According to the FIR, the message was received on June 25 when the MLA was at his Sohna residence.

“Around 7:30 pm, I received a message on my Whatsapp. The sender said he was an associate of gangster Neeraj Bawana and demanded Rs 5 lakh from me. He messaged me again on June 26 and shared a bank account number, in which the amount was to be deposited. He threatened to kill me if I did not pay him,” the MLA said in his complaint.

Following the complaint, an FIR was registered against the unidentified accused under Sections 387 (extortion) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC at Sohna city police station.

“The Sohna MLA has received threat messages on his cell phone. We have filed a case and are investigating the matter,” the police’s official statement reads.
