Son arrested for allegedly beating father to death in Ambala Cantonment

CIA-1 in-charge said both father and son were in an inebriated condition and had a verbal spat that turned violent, resulting in the son allegedly killing his father

The CIA-1 unit of the Ambala police has arrested a man for allegedly killing his father in Ambala Cantonment.

The accused has been identified as Gagan. The deceased was his father, Harvinder Kumar, 62. Both were residents of Arjun Nagar.

According to police, on Saturday night, the father and son had a dispute at their house. Later, the father stepped out. In an inebriated condition, the accused followed him and allegedly assaulted him on the road around 3.30 am on Sunday. He left his father injured on the road, where the man later died. The body was found near a liquor vend on Sunday morning.

After receiving information, police officials reached the spot and the body was sent for postmortem. A case was registered at the Mahesh Nagar police station and the investigation was handed over to the CIA-1 unit of Ambala police.

The accused has been arrested. The exact reason behind the dispute will be ascertained during his remand.
