The problem of sewer overflow at the bus stand in Hansi has been causing significant inconvenience to visitors. The bus stand complex is flooded with sewage water, leading to foul smell and unhygienic condition in the area.
The visitors and adjoining shopkeepers complain that even though Hansi has been upgraded to a district headquarters status by the state government, there appears to be little concern among the authorities on improving basic amenities in the town. They alleged that the accumulation of sewer water at the bus stand complex has become a routine issue, with water remaining stagnant for long periods. This not only hampers the movement of the visitors and staff but also creates serious problems for nearby shopkeepers due to the persistent foul smell.
DC Rahul Narwal said he had directed officials of the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure that the issue was resolved by February 24. “There should be no delay of any kind in this work,” he said in a statement on Friday. PHED Executive Engineer Sanjeev Tyagi said as per the DC’s directions, work would begin on Sunday, February 22 and the problem would be resolved by deadline of February 24. He said the department had tried to undertake the work earlier too, but it could not start due to the unavailability of a hammer machine. The machine has now been arranged and the work will start on Sunday.
