State govt launches scheme to upskill 10K engg graduates
The Nayab Singh Saini government has unveiled a new scheme under which 10,000 engineering graduates will be provided skill development opportunities.
The Contractor Saksham Yuva Scheme has been brought with “an objective to provide skill training to eligible unemployed youth qualifying the common eligibility test (CET) organised by the Haryana Government for group C and D jobs having engineering degree or diploma.
“The aim is to train and upskill youths having diploma or degree qualifications in engineering so that they can unlock new career opportunities in the field of engineering for professional development, leading to better entrepreneurship avenues to enable them to work as contractors,” a notification issued by Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary of the Skill Development and Industrial Training, Youth Empowerment and Entrepreneurship Development, said.
Under the first phase of the scheme, 10,000 youths would be trained so that they could be self-reliant, job-creating entrepreneurs. The notification said the scheme would recognise the talent of the deserving youths with financial support from the state government. “By actively promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship, the scheme will create an ecosystem that empowers individuals to pursue their business aspirations and contribute to the economic development by providing employment opportunities to other youths,” the notification said.
While training would be provided free to the youths having annual income of up to Rs 3 lakh, those having income between Rs 3 and Rs 6 lakh would pay only 50 per cent of the training cost. Of the three-month training, the candidates will undergo 45 days on-job training in various departments of the state government.
