The next date of hearing has been fixed for April 6 at the Camp Court in Gurugram. The commission has taken a stern stand in the matter concerning serious allegations that a young doctor was set on fire in a university room in Hisar. It has made it clear that there will be no compromise with the due process of justice.

In the complaint submitted to the Haryana Human Rights Commission by the deceased’s mother, Gayatri Yadav, she said that she received information on April 24, 2025 that one Udesh Kumar had set her daughter on fire in his university room.

The police registered an FIR in this case. However, the complainant alleged that the police, in connivance with the accused, released him and that no effective action had been taken so far. Gayatri Yadav sought justice from the commission and demanded fair and impartial investigation.

Taking serious note of the matter, Deep Bhatia had earlier requisitioned a fresh status report. In compliance with his directions, the case was transferred to the State Crime Branch, Bhondsi, Gurugram. During the course of investigation, the concerned parties were interrogated on December 12, 2025; thereafter, on December 29, 2025, the case file was presented before the State Police Complaint Authority, Panchkula, and the spot of occurrence was inspected on January 12, 2026.

However, Bhatia stated that if any negligence, bias, or deliberate laxity was found in the investigation, strict legal action would be taken against the officials concerned. “The dignity of human life and the fairness of the legal process are paramount, and the commission remains fully committed to upholding these principles”, he observed.
