According to latest data released by the Ministry of Finance, Haryana has recorded the highest growth in gross State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) collection in the country during FY 2025-26.

Excise and Taxation Commissioner Vinay Pratap Singh said the gross SGST collection (post-settlement) had reached Rs 44,460 crore by February of the current financial year, reflecting an increase of Rs 7,918 crore compared to the corresponding period last year. This translates into a robust growth rate of 22 per cent, the highest in the country. In comparison, the national average growth in gross SGST collections stands at 6 per cent, he added.

Singh said in February alone, the state had registered a 23 per cent increase in gross SGST revenue compared to February of the previous financial year. He highlighted that the steady rise in collections had continued even after the GST rate rationalisation undertaken by the GST Council in September 2025, reflecting both efficient tax administration and a healthy state economy.

The commissioner said the state currently had 6,22,478 taxpayers and 'GST Suvidha Kendras' had been set up across all the districts to facilitate GST registration. He attributed the strong revenue growth to improved tax compliance driven by recent reforms and enhanced tax analysis systems adopted by the Excise and Taxation Department.

"Recent amendments to GST rules have streamlined the registration process, making it easier for low-risk and small businesses to obtain GST registration numbers, while ensuring that fraudulent applicants are filtered out. Similar growth trends are also visible in Excise and VAT/CST collections in the state, and the department is confident of achieving its annual revenue targets for 2025-26," said the commissioner.
