State to move plea for video-conferencing

CHANDIGARH: With apprehensions of a law and order issue in case Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is brought to Panchkula for the quantum of sentence in journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case on Thursday, the government will on Tuesday move an application in the Special CBI Court, requesting that he be produced through video-conferencing.

With apprehensions of a law and order issue in case Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh is brought to Panchkula for the quantum of sentence in journalist Ram Chander Chhatrapati murder case on Thursday, the government will on Tuesday move an application in the Special CBI Court, requesting that he be produced through video-conferencing.

Shyam Sunder Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Home and Jails, said an application in this regard would be moved in the court in Panchkula on Tuesday.

He said the decision had been taken after long deliberations and the government was of the opinion that the legal requirement would be complete by producing Ram Rahim through video-conferencing. — TNS
