Storm damages over 13,200 electricity poles in Haryana; Anil Vij says power to be restored on war footing
He said 1,552 personnel have been deployed in special teams to restore power
Haryana Energy Minister Anil Vij today said that 13,277 electricity poles were damaged or uprooted due to a severe storm and strong winds recently, disrupting power supply in several districts.
The minister said the power department is working on a war footing to restore electricity in the affected areas.
“Directions have been issued to officials to restore power supply in all affected areas on a war footing and ensure relief reaches consumers at the earliest. The department has launched a large-scale special drive to normalise the power system as soon as possible,” Vij said.
Vij said the storm damaged or uprooted 13,277 poles across the state. Restoration and reinstallation work is progressing rapidly. Of these, 2,791 poles belong to Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and 10,486 to Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).
He said 1,552 personnel have been deployed in special teams to restore power. This includes 620 UHBVN employees and 932 employees and technical staff from DHBVN, who are working day and night in the field to repair power lines, transformers and other electrical infrastructure.
The Energy Minister said the storm affected power supply in 233 villages — 32 under UHBVN and 201 under DHBVN. Similarly, 842 feeders were impacted, including 458 UHBVN feeders and 384 DHBVN feeders.
He added that while the natural calamity disrupted supply at several locations, the department’s prompt response and field staff’s efforts have restored electricity in most affected areas. Work is continuing rapidly in the remaining locations, and the department is committed to ensuring uninterrupted supply to all consumers at the earliest.
Vij said the state government and Energy Department remain committed to providing reliable power. Officers have been instructed to continuously monitor restoration work and ensure additional resources are deployed wherever needed to avoid delays.
He also appealed to the public to remain patient and avoid going near damaged power lines or fallen poles. Consumers should immediately report any electricity-related issues to the concerned power office or complaint centre for timely action.
