Stray cattle removed from Kanwar Yatra routes

Teams of the Municipal Corporation of Yamunanagar-Jagadhri (MCYJ) have caught 12 stray cattle from the routes being used by Kanwariyas to reach their destinations.

The cattle were taken to a gaushala in Jagadhri by putting tags on them. According to information, a team under the leadership of Chief Sanitary Inspector Harjeet Singh caught eight stray cattle from Jagadhri-Ambala road and Old Saharanpur road. Another team of the MCYJ, led by CSI Anil Nain, caught four cattle from various places, including Saharanpur-Kurukshetra road and Radaur road.

Nain said the drive would continue until every stray cattle was caught in the twin cities. He said residents of twin cities should take photos of stray cattle roaming in areas under the MCYJ and send the pictures on WhatsApp number 7082410524, along with the address and location. He added that after getting information, the MCYJ team of would reach the spot and catch the stray cattle.

Nain said all stray cattle roaming in the twin cities would be caught and tagged before leaving them in gaushalas. He appealed to the residents against leaving their cattle in the open. “If anyone living in the MCYJ area is found leaving the cattle in the open, a fine of Rs 5,100 will be imposed on him. Apart from this, if any person from the rural area leaves cattle in the urban area, action will be taken against him as well,” said Nain. He said while catching the cattle, a tag was put on it by the MCYJ. “If the tagged animal is found in the open again, the operator of the gaushala concerned will be fined,” he added.

According to information, on the instructions of MCYJ Commissioner Akhil Pilani separate teams have been formed under CSI Harjeet Singh in zone-1, CSI Vinod Beniwal in zone-2 and CSI Anil Nain in zone-3 to catch the stray cattle.
