In a tragic incident, a 10-year-old boy was mauled to death by a group of stray dogs in Shekhpura Khalsa village under the Gharaunda police station limits. The deceased, identified as Aditya, went to retrieve his kite from a wheat field when he was attacked by a pack of aggressive dogs. His mutilated body was later found by the family and villagers.

As per the villagers, Aditya, the only son of daily-wage labourer Dalip, was flying a kite on the occasion of Basant Panchami on Sunday. In the evening, when his kite got cut and landed in the nearby wheat fields, he ran towards it. Meanwhile, a group of stray dogs attacked him. The child was brutally bitten, with severe injuries on his body.

The family had launched a search operation when Aditya failed to return after a prolonged period. Some children who had been chasing kites mentioned seeing kites in the fields, raising fears that Aditya might have gone there. Following the trail, villagers reached the spot and were horrified to find his body, with dogs still growling nearby.

Aditya’s father was inconsolable upon seeing his son’s tragic death. The villagers demanded immediate action to curb the menace of stray dogs. Inspector Deepak Kumar, SHO Gharaunda, confirmed the incident and attributed the boy’s death to the attack by stray dogs.

In a separate incident, a stray dog attacked a nearly five-year-old girl in Shaktipuram in Karnal city on Saturday. The increasing number of such incidents has sparked concerns over the growing menace of stray dogs in urban and rural areas, with residents demanding immediate action to prevent such tragedies in the future.
