Hindu Vidyapeeth Sonepat emerged as the overall champion in the Inter-School Debate organised by The Tribune at Bright Scholar Senior Secondary School.

Raunak of Hindu Vidyapeeth bagged the first prize, while Navyaa from Bright Scholar School bagged the second prize.

The third prize was bagged by Vansha of Hindu Vidyapeeth. Srishti from G3 Gyan Ganga Global School, Ayushi of Gateway International School and Arya from Gateway International School were given the consolation prizes.

The first prize winner was given a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 6,000. The second prize winner was given the trophy and cash prize of Rs 4,000, while the third prize winner got a trophy and Rs 3,000. The three consolation prize winners were given trophies and cash prize of Rs 1,500 each.

Eight schools from Sonepat participated in the first-ever event in the town. The managing director of the school Samiksha Panwar was the chief guest, while Kiran Dalal, principal of Bright Scholar Senior Secondary School, was the guest of honour. Participants debated on the topic “Artificial Intelligence – A Boon or Bane for Human Existence”. They were judged by Prof Anita Singroha from the Computer Science Department and Dr Pawan Dahia from Electronics and Communication Department of Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology.

The enthusiastic participants debated on the importance of artificial intelligence in today’s life, while those against the motion debated about its harmful impact on the humankind. The judges were impressed by the speeches of the young debaters and wished them good luck.

Giving away the prizes to the winners, the chief guest Samiksha Tanwar said she felt honoured to give away prizes to such intelligent participants. She desired that such events would be organised on a regular basis so that the talent of students could be nurtured and developed.

The principal of the school and guest of honour Kiran Dalal congratulated the winners. Madam Leena efficiently managed the stage. Vice-chairman of the group Lalit Panwar, Rina Gambhir, Rashmi Dahia, Kavita Grewal, Sunil, Poonam and other staff members were present on the occasion.
