Suspect’s wife alleges police harassment

The wife of key suspect in Rewari rape case Pankaj, an Army man, has alleged harassment by the special investigation team probing the case.

“It’s not just the rape victim, I also want justice. That man ruined my life. I left his home the day news went around about he being a rapist, 

but the cops are harassing my family. They detained my brother and father for over 18 hours. Stress is killing me and if this affects my child, the police will be responsible,” Jyoti said.

Five-month pregnant, Jyoti also made an appeal to the maha panchayat of 51 villages at Kosli on Friday to step in and ensure that neither she nor her family was harassed. 

She sent a letter to the CM saying if she or her unborn child had any medical complications, the SIT probing the case would be responsible for that. She has repeated her request to support her intention of getting her marriage annulled. She said she herself wanted the strictest punishment for Pankaj, if found guilty.

“If he has done this, I have no qualms even if he is hanged. But please spare me as my life has also been ruined. I don’t know what to do with his child that I bear,” she said.

Meanwhile, the maha panchayat organised under the leadership of Garhi Bala village sarpanch Hansraj formed a “jan sangharsh committee” to get justice for the victim.
