With dengue outbreak yet to be controlled, swine flu is posing a concern to people’s health in the district as it has been confirmed a man from Hansi died of swine flu on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Pawan Soni. He died at a private hospital in Hansi. Dr TP Sharma, District Malaria Officer, confirmed Soni died of swine flu.

A team of the Health Department today visited Soni’s house and administered Tamiflu tablets to members of his family as they had shown symptoms of swine flu, he said. Dr Sharma denied about any other case of swine flu in the district.

He admitted dengue cases continued to be reported in the district. “So far, 420 dengue cases have been reported. On an average, 10 dengue cases surface every day,” the officer said, adding the authorities were equipped to deal with dengue and swine flu.

“Almost all dengue cases are of mild nature. There is nothing to worry about. There is enough stock of Tamiflu tablets and testing kits for swine flu. The demand for more stock has been placed with the head office,” Dr Sharma added.

Sources said there were nearly 900 Tamiflu tablets with the department and demand for 5,000 tablets had been forwarded to the head office.
