A teenage cyclist was killed after a truck loaded with crushed stones overturned on him near the mini-bypass here today. The deceased had been identified as Gaurav, son of a migrant labourer. The truck driver fled the spot after the mishap.
The incident occurred in the morning when Gaurav was going to a relative’s house at Kheri-Khummar village to fetch ‘lassi’. As he reached the bypass, a speeding truck coming from the opposite direction hit him and overturned.
On receiving information, the police rushed the spot and removed the truck from the road with the help of three cranes. The body was sent to the Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police are investigating whether the accident occurred due to poor visibility caused by dense fog or due to the negligence of the truck driver.
Gaurav’s father Devendra said the family hailed from Hathras in Uttar Pradesh and had been living in Jhajjar for work. He added that his son had left home early in the morning on his bicycle.
