The drive was carried out by a team headed by Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjeet Singh and led by Sanitation Inspector Pradeep Dahiya on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Mahabir Parsad.

According to information, the team removed haphazardly parked carts, temporary structures and goods from Jagadhri road and the area of Maharana Pratap Chowk.

In several areas, shopkeepers and vendors were advised not to encroach on public spaces and to use designated vending zones.

During the drive, the team members systematically removed the roadside carts and moved them to the street vending zone in Model Town.

“This action has been taken to improve the city’s traffic system,” said Chief Sanitation Inspector Harjeet Singh.

He said adequate space had been provided to the vendors in the vending zone, allowing them to operate their businesses from the vending zone smoothly.

He further said Jagadhri road was the busiest road of the twin cities, with heavy traffic throughout the day.

“The presence of carts and other encroachments along the road often causes traffic jams, causing inconvenience to drivers, pedestrians and nearby shopkeepers,” said Harjeet Singh.

He said the team clearly warned the street vendors and shopkeepers that if roadside encroachments were repeated, strict action would be taken against them.

“Such drives will continue in future to keep the twin cities encroachment-free, so that citizens can enjoy better transportation and a clean environment,” said Harjeet Singh.
