Assembly elections are three months away and it’s time for a number of ‘son-rises’ in Haryana politics.

Now, dynastic politics is not only about the three Lals — Devi Lal, Bhajan Lal, Bansi Lal — and Hooda in Haryana. A number of political leaders, especially ministers, MPs and MLAs in both parties — the ruling BJP as well as the Congress — are gearing up to launch their daughters and sons in the political battleground in the upcoming Assembly elections.

In the ruling BJP, Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh has made it clear that his daughter Aarti Rao will make her political debut in Haryana politics this election. “She has been seeking ticket from the BJP since 2014. She is leading a social organisation Insaf Manch and has been active in social life. She is keen to make political debut and will contest the election,” he said.

In the Congress, Hisar MP Jai Prakash is confident about the debut of his son, Vikas Saharan, in politics with this election. “Vikas has been active in electoral management and has been in the field. He will apply for party ticket from Kalayat Assembly constituency in Kaithal district,” Jai Prakash informed The Tribune.

Rao Dan Singh’s son Akshat Rao who is a leader in Youth Congress is also among ticket aspirants.

In the Congress, former Speaker Kuldeep Sharma is hoping for ticket for his son Chanakya Sharma from Ganaur or Rai in Sonepat district and former Union Minister Birender Singh is pitching for his son Brijendra Singh from Uchana in Jind district.

Former Home Minister Sampat Singh too is trying for Congress ticket for his son Gaurav from Nalwa in Hisar. Bansi Lal’s grandson Anirudh Chaudhry had staked his claim for the Congress ticket from either Badhra or Tosham in Bhiwani district.

In Rohtak and Sonepat districts, Congress former MLA Anand Singh Dangi’s son Balram Dangi and former Baroda former (late) MLA Krishan Hooda’s son Jeeta Hooda are among the aspirants from Meham and Baroda segments. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Randeep Singh Surjewala’s son Aditya Surjewala and Rai (Sonepat) MLA Jai Tirath Dahiya’s son Ravish are also active in their respective segments.

BJP leaders are also not far behind in this respect. Besides Rao Inderjit who is vocal in demanding ticket for his daughter, sons of Bhiwani- Mahendragarh MP Dharambir Singh, former MP from Sonepat Ramesh Kaushik and former minister Rambilas Sharma are also nursing political aspirations.

Kiran Choudhry obviously will aspire for ticket for her daughter Shruti Choudhry who is a former MP. Former three-time MLA from Sonepat Devi Dass’ grandson Tarun and former MP Kishan Singh Sangwan’s son Pradeep Sangwan are also aspirants for Congress ticket.
