Three held in Dadri firing case; one arrested after encounter
CIA team recovers weapon; raids on to nab remaining accused
The Charkhi Dadri police have arrested three persons in connection with Thursday’s firing incident near the City police station in Dadri town, Haryana, in which seven occupants of a Scorpio SUV were injured. One of the accused was arrested after an encounter, while two alleged conspirators were nabbed by another police team.
The accused arrested after the encounter has been identified as Rohit alias Katiya, a resident of Majra Dubladhan village in Jhajjar district. During preliminary questioning, he allegedly admitted his involvement in the conspiracy behind the attack. A case has also been registered against him at Baund Kalan police station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
The other two accused have been identified as Preet, a resident of Sahuwas, and Yudvinder, who is currently residing near Loharu Chowk in Charkhi Dadri. Police said they were being questioned to ascertain their role in planning the attack and to identify other persons involved.
Charkhi Dadri DSP Dheeraj Kumar said the CIA team had received information about the movement of criminals involved in the firing. A police team set up a naka on the Baund-Kalanaur link road.
When a vehicle was signalled to stop for checking, one of the occupants allegedly opened fire at the police team and fled on foot. The bullet hit the bumper of the police vehicle. In the retaliatory firing, the accused suffered a gunshot injury in his leg.
The accused was taken to hospital and a weapon was recovered from him, the DSP said. He added that the accused has a criminal record and his involvement in cases related to murder, robbery and assault has come to light. His past criminal history is being verified.
Police teams have launched raids at various locations to arrest the remaining accused. Six teams have been constituted to investigate the alleged criminal network, resources used in the crime and the motive behind the attack.
Seven persons, who themselves face around 43 criminal cases, were injured when three assailants fired around 30 rounds at their Scorpio SUV after they left a court in Charkhi Dadri following a hearing. The attackers fled on foot. The injured are undergoing treatment at hospitals in Rohtak and Gurugram.
