Two arrested for killing stray dog in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: Gurugram police on Tuesday nabbed two men for allegedly brutally thrashing a stray dog and killing it in Sector 82 on January 13. It was a sector resident who saw them, intervened and approached police.

Gurugram police on Tuesday nabbed two men for allegedly brutally thrashing a stray dog and killing it in Sector 82 on January 13. It was a sector resident who saw them, intervened and approached police.

Tushar and Deepak were produced in a local court and were granted bail. It was on January 16 that Naman Joshi, a resident of DLF Primus, Sector 82, approached police accusing two men and their dozen accomplices for allegedly brutally thrashing a stray dog to death and threatening him and his mother when they tried to save it.

The complainant submitted video confession of the accused who then fled with body of dog and buried it. The police exhumed the body and got post mortem done.

The post mortem revealed that 7-month-old female dog died of clotting owing to brutality induced panic and anxiety. The dog was hit by sticks and sharp objects. The police arrested accused under Sections 11 (1), (L) of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960, besides slapping relevant IPC provisions.

The accused insisted that the dog was mad and had bitten many people and children and had become a threat.
