The accident took place on Sunday near Sabaras and Gudhi villages (Mohammedpur Ahir police station, Tauru subdivision) after one vehicle braked abruptly, triggering a chain collision involving five vehicles, setting a dumper loaded with stone chips and a container ablaze in Haryana’s Nuh.

The flames engulfed both vehicles within seconds, trapping the driver and helper inside. They were burnt alive on the spot. Their identities could not be established as the bodies were completely charred.

The fiery crash brought traffic on the busy expressway to a standstill, causing a massive jam stretching for kilometres. Thick smoke billowed across the highway, triggering panic. Three fire tenders battled the blaze for nearly two hours, while it took over three hours for the police to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.

The police confirmed that preliminary investigation points to abrupt braking as the primary cause of the accident. The station house officer of Mohammedpur Ahir police station SHO said efforts are underway to identify the deceased. A search has been launched to nab the absconders and appropriate legal action will be taken after formal complaints are lodged.
