Two cops booked for inaction over Dalits’ complaints

HISAR: Acting on directions of the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) DR Chalia, the police on Monday registered a case against SHO Lalit Kumar and chowki incharge Krishan Kumar on the complaint of Manjeet, wife of Anand Pal, on the charge of misusing their position to harm the complainant while taking action in a fraud case.

Acting on directions of the court of Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) DR Chalia, the police on Monday registered a case against SHO Lalit Kumar and chowki incharge Krishan Kumar on the complaint of Manjeet, wife of Anand Pal, on the charge of misusing their position to harm the complainant while taking action in a fraud case.

The complainant had stated that she lodged a complaint of fraud and criminal intimidation and under the SC/ST Act against Deepak Baliali, Sunil Garg and Subhash Garg at the city police station on August 19.

She alleged that the SHO and the anaj mandi chowki incharge did not take action against the accused on her complaint and even gave shelter to them.

She said the police chowki incharge had stated that he would not take any action on Manjeet’s complaint, but the police finally registered a case against three persons on September 5. After hearing the petition of the complainant, the ADJ directed the police to register a case against the SHO, chowki incharge and state.

The SHO had been booked in a similar case on the directions of the ADJ for not taking action on a complaint filed by a Dalit advocate.

Complainant GR Nagar had lodged a complaint against Dr Arvind Gupta and two hospitals that their negligent and wrong treatment led to the death of his wife Sunehari Devi on November 22, 2015, but the police did not take any action.

Nagar had filed two petitions demanding registration of criminal cases against Dr Gupta, Kartik Hospital and Sewak Sabha Hospital. The police booked the doctor and the two hospitals on September 25.
