The CIA-1 unit of the Kurukshetra police has arrested two men in connection with the murder case of Jai Bhagwan, whose body was found in agricultural fields on February 26.
The accused have been identified as Happy Kashyap, and Rajkumar, alias Raju, residents of Aara Colony, Dhurala, in Kurukshetra. They were presented before a court which sent them to three-day police remand.
Kurukshetra police spokesperson Naresh Kumar said Jai Bhagwan was found dead under the jurisdiction of the Jhansa police station on February 26. Soon after getting the information, police teams and forensic experts reached the spot and teams of the CIA-1, CIA-2, CIA-Ladwa and Jhansa police stations were directed to trace the accused. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family and a case was registered for murder on the complaint of the deceased’s brother Karamjeet, at the Jhansa police station.
On February 28, a team of CIA-1 arrested the accused. CIA-1 in-charge Jasbir Singh said Jai Bhagwan was an addict and recently he was caught while stealing. The accused had spotted Jai Bhagwan at night in the Dhurala area, and they thought that he had come with the purpose of stealing. The next day, they spotted him again near the field when they confronted him and asked his purpose behind roaming in the area at night, a verbal spat broke out between them. Jasbir Singh said the accused had strangulated him with a piece of cloth, which the victim was wearing. The court has sent the accused in police remand.
