Two killed, 1 injured in Panipat mishaps

PANIPAT: Two persons were killed in road accidents here on Sunday.

Two persons were killed in road accidents here on Sunday.

In a statement to the police, Vinod, a resident of Sondhapur village, stated that he was working as a fruit vendor near the bus queue shelter of his village on the Assandh road.

He along with his brother Krishan and another youth Sonu was sleeping in a temporary shed near the shop, he said, and added that a speeding car rammed into their shop around 2am. Krishan and Sonu sustained injuries in the incident. They were rushed to a private hospital where doctors referred Krishan to PGIMS, Rohtak. Krishan succumbed to his injuries during treatment, he said. The car driver managed to flee the spot after leaving the car behind.

The police handed over the body to the victim’s family members after the post-mortem examination.

In another incident, Sushil Kumar, a resident of Naraina village, died in a mishap on the Chautala road here.

In a statement to the police, Hariram, father of the deceased, stated that he and Sushil were on the way to Sanoli Khurd village to meet Sushil’s in-laws on a motorcycle.

As they reached near Girdhar Milk Factory, a speeding truck hit the motorcycle from behind, he said, and added that he fell down into the nearby fields, while Sushil’s head hit the bumper of the truck and he died on the spot. The truck driver managed to escape from the spot and left the vehicle behind, he said.

The police registered a case against the driver and impounded the vehicle.
