Sonepat, June 30
Two persons were killed and seven, including the driver of a van, were injured in a mishap on the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal (KGP), Eastern Peripheral Expressway, near Jakholi village of Sonepat district early this morning.
The van in which the victims were travelling hit the rear of a truck parked on the roadside. The Kundli police began a probe and sent the bodies to the mortuary at the General Hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Raghwendra and Chhedi Lal of Pilibhit district in UP, while the injured are identified as Bimlesh, Rambir, Sarvesh, Tula Ram, Arun and Shiv of Pilibhit and driver Ashok of Gohana.
Rambir said they left for Mundlana village of Gohana from Pilibhit to sow paddy in the fields of Satyawanlast night. They were travelling in the Eeco van of Satywan. Arun was driving the van. When they reached near Jakholi village, their van hit the truck’s rear that was parked in the middle of the road. The collision was so tremendous that the front of the van was badly damaged.
The Kundli police reached the spot after getting information about the accident and admitted all injured to hospital. The truck driver managed to flee the spot. A case was registered against the unknown truck driver.
