Two shooters arrested after encounter in Karnal
Had opened fire at store in Sonepat | Bishnoi gang claims responsibility
Two motorcycle-borne shooters allegedly involved in a recent firing incident at a supplements store in Sonepat were arrested after a brief encounter with the Special Task Force (STF) near Kurali village in the district on Tuesday. The accused, identified as Ashish and Kapil—both residents of Sonepat—sustained injuries and have been admitted to hospital.
As per the police, three armed persons opened fire at the store on February 27, creating panic in the area. CCTV footage helped investigators identify the suspects. In the footage, one of the shooters is seen handing over a slip of paper to the store manager at the counter. Moments later, the assailant pulled out a firearm and attempted to shoot the manager. However, the weapon reportedly malfunctioned, giving the manager time to duck. The attackers then fled the spot. No injuries were reported in the store firing incident.
Soon after the incident, Lawrence Bishnoi gang allegedly claimed responsibility for the firing through a social media post.
“We received input about the two shooters involved in the firing. Based on the tip-off, we set up a naka and tried to intercept them. When asked to stop, they opened fire at the police. In retaliation, STF personnel also fired. Both suspects sustained bullet injuries and were overpowered and detained,” said Deepender Singh, STF (Karnal incharge).
