Two youths were murdered during Holi celebrations in the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Ravi (21) of Pwati village in Samalkha division and Hemant (19) of Imam Bara on the Jatal road in Panipat city. Both were murdered with sharp-edged weapons.

The family members of Ravi, along with villagers, on Friday blocked traffic on the National Highway-44 near Samalkha and demanded arrest of the accused.

Rinku, brother of the deceased, said some youths had organised a DJ party on the occasion of Holi and his brother went there. He alleged some youths attacked his brother with sharp-edged weapons due to which he died.

The accused have been identified as Dalip, Ravi, Praveen, Vijaypal and Mandeep. They have been booked under Sections 302, 120 B and 34 of the IPC.

Six teams have been constituted to nab the accused.

Besides, a 23-year-old youth was shot in the Shakti Vihar colony in the city while police personnel were beaten in Binjhol village.

Meanwhile, in another murder case, Anil Kumar of Imam Bara on the Jatal road, in his complaint to the police, said his son Hemant (19) was stabbed to death on Holi. He alleged that Hemant’s friend Anurag, alias Suktavi, of Khatik Basti, called his son and attacked him with a sharp-edged weapon in the Imam Bara area. Anurag murdered his son due to some old feud, Anil Kumar alleged.

The police have registered a case under Section 302 of the IPC and Sections 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act against the accused.
