Union Budget: State gets Rs 3,416 crore to strengthen rail infra

In the Union Budget, Rs 3,416 crore has been allocated for Haryana's railway projects, which is 11 times more than the Rs 315 crore received from 2009 to 2014, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said in New Delhi today.

Giving information about Haryana's share in the Budget, he said the amount would boost the rail infrastructure. Since 2014, 823 km of track had been laid in Haryana, which was almost equal to the entire rail network of the UAE.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said rail infrastructure would make the life of people of the state easier. Vaishnav said 34 railway stations of Haryana were being developed as Amrit stations, with an amount of Rs 1,149 crore. The stations are: Ambala Cantt, Ambala City, Bahadurgarh, Ballabhgarh, Bhiwani Junction, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Faridabad New Town, Gohana, Hansi, Hisar, Hodal, Jind Junction, Kalanwali, Kalka, Karnal, Kosli, Kurukshetra Junction, Loharu, Mahendragarh, Mandi Adampur, Mandi Dabwali, Narnaul, Narwana Junction, Palwal, Panipat Junction, Pataudi Road, Rewari, Rohtak, Sirsa, Sonepat, Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.

He said work was in progress on the plans to develop Faridabad and Gurugram railway stations. He said work was currently underway on 14 new tracks in Haryana. Also, Rs 15,875 crore would be spent on laying 1,195-km track.

He said from 2014 to 2025, the railway infrastructure in the state had gained momentum. Electrification of 121 tracks was completed and construction of 534 railway flyovers and underbridges had also been undertaken. At the same time, Rs 398 crore had been allocated under the Kavach projects for the modernisation of railways.

During this time, Haryana had got connectivity of five Vande Bharat Express trains. At present, Wi-Fi facility had been provided at 144 stations in the state.
