With the verdict of Lok Sabha elections in its favour, the upbeat district unit of BJP has geared up for the Assembly elections as it is no mood to let the momentum go.

District BJP president Dharamveer Mirzapur said, “Expectations from the party are high considering the Lok Sabha poll result. Party workers have been asked to prepare for the Assembly elections. Meetings will soon be held with booth-level workers and also the panna pramukhs. They will be asked about the areas where the party didn’t get desired results. Efforts will be made to ensure that we get maximum votes at all booths in the Assembly election.”

“We will be expressing our gratitude to the people, Assembly constituency wise, for their support. The people who have joined the BJP after quitting other parties will be given roles in the organisation. The BJP has the momentum right now and we would not let it break due to any laxity. The party will not leave any stone unturned to win the forthcoming poll,” he added.

Of the four Assembly constituencies in the district, Thanesar (Subhash Sudha), Ladwa (Pawan Saini) and Shahabad (Krishan Bedi) are being represented by the BJP. Jaswinder Sandhu of the INLD, who passed away earlier this year, had won the Pehowa seat.

“This time, we have performed well in Pehowa too. Several INLD leaders and sarpanches from the segment have already joined the BJP,” Mirzapur said.

BJP’s Dhuman Singh, the incharge of the Pehowa constituency during the Lok Sabha elections, said “The BJP candidate won by over 33,000 votes in Pehowa and the party will win the seat in the Assembly elections too. We have started meeting people and 20 per cent of the constituency has already been covered. A drive will be launched to enrol new members before the Assembly poll.”
