During the inaugural session, retired college principal Dr PK Bajpai said every child possessed unique abilities and potential. He emphasised that the active involvement of parents and guardians was essential for the successful education, rehabilitation and social inclusion of children with disabilities.

He urged families to adopt a positive outlook and become advocates for the rights and development of their children.

Throughout the camp, participants received guidance on early intervention services, inclusive and special education opportunities, behaviour management techniques, emotional support systems, rehabilitation services and government welfare schemes.

Discussions also covered disability rights, legal safeguards and strategies to promote independence and self-confidence among special children. Dr Anju Bajpai, Director of the institute, stressed the importance of empowering families through continuous learning and capacity building.

She said informed and motivated parents were better equipped to support the educational, social and emotional growth of their children. She also highlighted the need for greater community awareness and acceptance of persons with disabilities.

The sessions conducted by Anukriti Bajpai of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies (VIPS), Delhi, were highly interactive and practical. Through case studies, group discussions and real-life examples, she guided participants on communication techniques, behaviour management strategies, educational planning and emotional resilience. She encouraged parents to focus on their children’s strengths rather than limitations and to create supportive environments that foster confidence and independence. A special feature of the camp was the active participation of parents and guardians, who shared their experiences, challenges and success stories. Participants appreciated the programme for addressing both the practical and emotional aspects of caregiving.
