Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan today inaugurated the silver jubilee celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris’ Om Shanti Retreat Centre (OSRC) in Gurugram.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice-President said he was pleased to be part of the Centre’s milestone celebrations. He noted that the OSRC, founded 24 years ago with the spiritual vision of the Brahma Kumaris, has now entered its 25th year of selfless service. He appreciated the diversity of professionals — “scientists, doctors, administrators, politicians” — who are drawn to the Centre’s message of peace, meditation and inner harmony. He also commended the Brahma Kumaris for emerging as “the world’s largest women-led spiritual organisation.”
Highlighting Bharat’s rich civilisational legacy, the Vice-President underlined the country’s deep-rooted traditions of spirituality, meditation and inner awakening. He recalled the contributions of ancient ‘sages, rishis and munis’, whose ‘tapasya’ and meditative discipline shaped India’s timeless knowledge systems. Traditions such as Rajyoga and Vipassana, he said, demonstrate that “true strength and clarity emerge from within.”
Radhakrishnan praised the Brahma Kumaris for upholding and advancing this spiritual heritage, guiding millions across India and abroad towards peace, purity of mind and balanced living. He referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for Viksit Bharat@2047, noting that in the Amrit Kaal, economic progress must move hand in hand with inner stability, happiness and peace. Meditation, he said, must be embraced as “an essential life skill” in today’s fast-paced world.
The Vice-President also lauded the OSRC’s strong commitment to environmental sustainability and its alignment with Mission LiFE, the Prime Minister’s initiative promoting pro-planet lifestyles. He appreciated the Centre’s extensive green initiatives, including a 1 MW hybrid solar power plant, rainwater harvesting systems, biogas and sewage treatment plants, green kitchens, free sapling nurseries and large-scale tree plantation under the Kalp Taru project.
He further acknowledged the Brahma Kumaris’ role in social initiatives such as the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, campaigns supporting the dignity of senior citizens and efforts to promote the practice of Karmayoga across professions.
