Haryana minister Anil Vij meets Khattar to boost power generation, distribution systems
Move aimed at ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity supply
Haryana’s Energy Minister Anil Vij on Sunday met Union Minister for Energy and Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal Khattar in New Delhi to strengthen the power generation and distribution systems in Haryana.
As per the information, during the meeting, the two ministers discussed the current status of the energy sector in the state, measures to further strengthen power generation and distribution systems, ensuring uninterrupted and quality electricity supply and promoting renewable energy initiatives.
They also deliberated on expediting development projects through enhanced coordination and cooperation between the Central and State Governments, aimed at accelerating the state’s progress and delivering direct benefits to the public.
The ministers also held discussions on various issues of public interest, reaffirming the shared commitment of both leaders towards sustainable and inclusive development.
While speaking to mediaperons, Anil Vij said that improving the power system is the priority to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply to consumers. Discussions were held with Union Energy Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on the development of the energy sector, so that the benefits of energy-related schemes reached the people of the state along with support from the Centre.
He said there was no problem related to power supply during the ongoing winter season, nor was there any imbalance between demand and supply. The transformers and conductors across the state were being upgraded as required, with large-scale upgrade being carried out in Gurugram and Faridabad.
Responding to a question about the allocation of a new coal linkage to Haryana, Vij said that whenever a new thermal plant or unit wasset up, securing a coal block was essential. He said 800 MW units were to be installed in Panipat and at Khedar in Hisar, and recently the Central Government had allocated a coal linkage for the Khedar unit in Hisar. This allocation would accelerate the work on the new unit at Khedar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundation stone for a new 800 MW unit in Yamunanagar, the work on which was progressing.
