A team of the Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell of the Yamunanagar police has arrested a man and recovered three stolen motorcycles from his possession.
Chamkaur Singh, a police spokesman, said accused Abhinav, alias Mitthu, a resident of Sabapur village in Yamunanagar district, was produced before a Jagadhri court, which sent him to judicial custody.
Rajesh Kumar, incharge of Anti-Vehicle Theft Cell, said they had received a tip-off a man was planning to go to Uttar Pradesh via Kalanaur village, which is situated on the Haryana-UP border, to sell a stolen motorcycle.
He said the police put up a barricade at Kalanaur village and began checking vehicles.
“After some time, a man was seen arriving on a motorcycle. The accused had stolen the motorcycle from Nehru Park on November 21,” said Rajesh Kumar. He added that the accused had also stolen two more motorcycles from areas under the City Police Station on February 24, 2024 and July 2, 2024.
