Accusing the BJP of “vote theft”, the Haryana Youth Congress on Saturday held a state-level protest in Karnal.

Youth Congress national president Uday Bhan Chib encouraged workers to reach out to the people and expose what he called the BJP’s “systematic vote theft” in elections. Raising slogans and demanding action on alleged electoral irregularities, the party workers marched towards the Mini Secretariat, where the police had set up barricades. As a result, minor scuffle broke out between the protesters and the police.

“We are not RSS agents who will fear lathis. We are Rahul Gandhi’s soldiers. We will not bow down,” he said.

Addressing the workers, Chib alleged that the BJP came to power through “systematic vote theft”. He accused the Election Commission and senior officials of acting like “government agents”, saying this posed a serious threat to India’s democratic framework.

Chib also questioned the distribution of financial benefits during the model code of conduct, alleging that “Rs 10,000 was deposited into each woman’s account even when such announcements are prohibited.” He termed it a misuse of public money for electoral advantage and vowed that the Youth Congress would oppose this “vote-buying campaign”.

Expressing grief over the recent death of a basketball player, Chib said the government had “failed to support sportspersons who brought glory to the state”.

Youth Congress senior vice-president Somil Sandhu urged youth to unite against the BJP’s “misgovernance.” He accused the ruling party of committing “serious crime of vote theft” and failing to provide employment, pushing the youth towards drugs and crime.
