Was tortured, alleges uncle

The uncle of gunman Mahipal, who shot dead Additional District Judge Krishna Kant’s wife and injured his son here on Saturday, has alleged the Judge’s family tortured him.

“His current posting left him stressed. He was under pressure, especially from the Judge’s wife. The family harassed and misbehaved with him,” alleged Mahipal’s uncle Dan Singh in his police statement.

He also said Mahipal was demanding leave for the past many days, but not even a single day’s leave was granted. This infuriated him, he said.

Dan Singh also alleged the police were harassing the family. “We are cooperating with the police, but they are harassing us. Mahipal’s mother is unwell, but she picking her during the dead of the night,” he said.

On Mahipal’s conversion to Christianity, Dan Singh said the family was shocked at his decision. “He would cry alone after the conversion, but never told us the reason. One thing is sure that he was under pressure,” he added.
