Wires around trees hamper growth

There many trees in Bhiwani, which are literally choked, as iron chains or barbed wires have been tied around their trunks. I spotted one such tree that has wire tied around its trunk. This hampers growth of a tree and also could result in its slow death. The authorities of the Forest Department should check such trees in the city and remove iron chains and barbed wires tied around their trunks immediately.

— Lokesh, Bhiwani

Bus service from Punhana to Gurugram discontinued

THERE was a direct bus service from Punhana in Nuh district to Gurugram at 6:30 am. It was a lifeline of all working people in Gurugram. This bus service has been discontinued. Now, the same bus goes to Chandigarh at 4:40 am. Daily commuters are forced to travel in shared private cabs, which overcharge fare. A middle class working man cannot spend Rs 150 to Rs 200 every day on travelling to work. Besides, women, who travel in cabs, are not always safe. The authorities concerned should resume the Punhana-Gurugram bus service. — Nadeem Ahmed, Gurugram

Unauthorised dairies pose serious health hazard

Unauthorised dairies in residential areas pose a health hazard for residents of the twin cities. The sanitation conditions in these areas are worse, which force residents to live in hell like conditions. Dairy owners flush cow dung into sewer lines. This aggravates the problem of frequent chocking of sewers, which spreads diseases. Besides, accumulated dung is a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The Municipal Corporation authorities should shift unauthorised dairies from the residential areas to a suitable place immediately.

Waterlogging irks residents

RESIDENTs are facing problems due to waterlogging on vacant plots and in the low-lying areas. Inundated plots have turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes. There many plots and grounds in Ambala Cantt. The situation worsens during monsoon. The administration should drain water from plots and the low-lying areas.

— Shyam, Ambala

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture, which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
